Drp1 is involved in the formation and release of vesicles in ischemia and hypoxia. Drp1-mediated mitochondrial quality imbalance stimulates vesicle secretion and inflammatory cascade activation. MFF on vesicle membranes can recruit cytoplasmic Drp1 to interact with Bcl-xL, resulting in changes in vesicle membrane fluidity. Drp1-binding vesicles can shed Miro1-induced mitochondrial membrane embossments and transform into MDVs.
